Syrian invents smart plow that protects tree roots and increases productivity

 Sweida, southern Syria– Due to his constant pursuit of innovation and desire to make agricultural machinery available to farmers at low costs, Syrian inventor Fares Mohsen al-Barouki invented a "smart plow" capable of plowing entire orchards without harming tree roots.

Al-Barouki, a mechanic specializing in agricultural machinery from the Sweida governorate, designed this plow to protect trees from the damage caused to their roots by traditional plows, which will increase productivity, save money and reduce work for farmers.

The smart plow, which took al-Barouki six months to complete, consists of three plowshares, a warning sensor, hydraulic jacks connected to the sensor,  springs around the plowshares to determine heights, a gearbox, and a manual control system.

This invention won the 2010 award at the Invention and Technology Exhibition at al-Baath University.

Al-Barouki said that the sensor gives a warning if the plow comes near tree roots, retracting and raising the plowshares automatically to avoid damaging the roots, adding that he is willing to provide this invention to any national company that can provide it to farmers at the lowest possible costs.
